“I’m delighted the Government yesterday committed to spend another £2 billion on affordable housing, to help resolve the fundamental shortage of housing for social rent in this country.
“This funding and the new rent level certainty will go some way to supporting housing associations like Aspire Housing to build more homes; we have tripled our development programme to 2021 with our plan to deliver 1,700 homes.
“We develop in the areas of Staffordshire that others won’t, and if the Government can support further with a greater availability of public land for development this would help us build even more.
“Together with other housing associations and the Government, we can do so much more to provide affordable homes for those in need.
“Resolving the issue with the LHA cap must still be tackled so we can provide a safe and secure home for those who need it most, and we must work with the Government to resolve this quickly.”
