Residents are now moving into their new homes at our Birch House Road development in Crackley! This has introduced a mix of 30 high-quality affordable houses and flats for rent on the site that previously held the Hulstone pub which was demolished in 2016.
We are very happy that residents are delighted with their new homes.
For one of our new residents, 82-year-old Marjorie Williams, her new home in Crackley comes with a sense of familiarity. Marjorie said: “I feel like I’ve come full circle. I moved with my family into one of the pebble-dashed houses on Willow Close just after they were built in 1954, and now all these years later I’ve moved back just down the road.”
Marjorie has been living with her daughters since her husband Keith sadly passed away earlier this year. She is delighted with her new home: “After I lost my husband, I couldn’t stay in my old house, so this is just what I needed. My new house is brilliant and has plenty of space. It’s close to family, which is very handy, and I really can’t fault it.”
It’s been fantastic to see such a lively and positive transformation take place at a site that was vacant for so many years, and we were delighted to meet Marjorie and see just how happy she is with her new home.
A number of customers have moved into the new homes at Birch House Road and the feedback has been brilliant. We’ve had customers emailing straight after getting the keys to say the homes are ‘amazing’ and just what they hoped for. One lady told us she was ‘over the moon’ with her new home, and others have been quite emotional when we’ve shown them around the properties.
Affordable homes are in high demand in Newcastle-under-Lyme, and new developments like this go a long way towards helping us meet those needs. This is one of many investments we are currently making into new homes in North Staffordshire, and we look forward to continuing to provide affordable homes where they’re most needed.
