In this blog we look at the importance of gas safety in your home.
Whilst Gas Safety Week is an annual event which reminds us all how important gas safety is and how to ensure safety in your home and environment, gas safety is something we should all continually consider.
At Aspire Housing, we prioritise the safety of our customers. We keep our homes safe and we support our customers to stay safe, whether that’s through annual safety checks, or offering advice.
We complete Annual Checks to make sure everything is safe in your property. Here are a few examples of what we do for our customers to comply with gas safety, when we complete your annual gas checks:
- Gas tightness test - this test indicates if there are any gas leaks in the property and the gas engineer will also ask the customer if they have smelt gas when they attend.
- Carbon Monoxide (CO) and smoke alarms test - this tests that the CO and smoke alarms in the home are up to date, and where they are not fitted we will fit them, and the maintain them going forward. This is to ensure that our customers feel safe in their homes in the event of a carbon monoxide leak, or should the smoke alarm activate.
- Gas Appliances test - every gas appliance is visually and operationally checked to confirm that the gas appliance is in good condition (excluding a customer’s own appliance; customers are required to have these done themselves to confirm these gas appliances are working safely).
- Planned Boiler Replacement Programme - Aspire Housing has a planned boiler replacement programme; when old boilers are identified as being of a certain age and when parts are becoming obsolete, these are replaced instead of waiting for them to break down, which avoids inconvenience for the customer.
