We are investing £2.8 million in a complete redesign and refurbishment of Brighton House in Silverdale, which includes a £320,000 government grant from Homes England, which will create 19 high-quality affordable homes.
This will result in a transformation going from a former nursing home to affordable apartments for over 55’s – looking to be completed by October 2021. There will be 16 one-bedroom and 3 two-bedroom apartments, all of which will be purpose-built, age-friendly homes to support customers to live independently.
We believe that our investment will uplift and transform this local landmark, which has fallen out of use in recent years, to introduce a new community living scheme which is specifically designed to be age-friendly; combining safe and secure accommodation with a range of services to help our customers live as independently as possible, along with the rest of our community living schemes, and to help us meet the high demand for affordable homes for over 55's in our area. Each flat at Brighton House will be entirely self-contained, with its own front door to outside space, whilst still offering the assurance of help and support when required. On top of that, they will be modern, attractive, high-quality homes that meet the aspirations of customers. We have great support from our developers and are excited for Brighton House and its renovation!
