This is a very prestigious award which is equivalent to an MBE. Only 250 awards are given nationwide each year and Blurton Farm Residents Association is one of them. Christine Pratt who is the Chairwoman has also been made a member of the British Empire.
The Queens award was presented by Staffordshire’s Lord Lieutenant, Ian Dudson. Speeches and applauds were all around. Lord Mayor Councillor, Lillian Dodd and the Sheriff of Staffordshire gave well received speeches as part of the whole celebrations throughout the night. The celebrations were also attended by other partners including Staffordshire Police and Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
Blurton Farm Residents Association runs the Blurton Community Hub, which is the heart and soul of Blurton. The Hub is a great asset to the community which enables residents and agencies opportunities to work together to tackle any issues or problems they may have. There are various community groups and services that run from the hub; this includes the Citizen Advice Bureau and Staffordshire police. Aspire Housing holds regular surgery sessions at the hub to enable our customers to drop in and discuss and concerns they may have face-to-face.
The award win was well deserved, as the hub is a great achievement and great place for the community to come and work together. We’re looking forward to continued collaboration with Blurton Farm Residents Association and wish them many further successes in the future.
